We’re in the dog days of summer. The kind of days where your car seat feels like a frying pan, your iced coffee disappears in five minutes, and “going outside” requires a little strategy.

A true staple of the Greenville food scene, Soby’s has been serving up elevated Southern comfort food in the heart of downtown for decades. Located in a historic building that keeps its rustic, industrial charm, the restaurant feels both lively and welcoming. It’s a place where you can take out-of-town visitors for a classic experience or meet friends for a relaxed dinner after a walk through Falls Park.

Here’s what people keep coming back for:

Soby’s Fried Green Tomatoes — A must-order. These are tasty and perfectly seasoned, served over a bed of fresh haricots verts and topped with a rich, creamy pimento fondue and crispy carrots.

Shrimp and Grits — A local favorite done right. It features fresh, jumbo shrimp served over creamy, stone-ground grits with a savory tarragon-tomato cream sauce that adds a unique, bright flavor to a classic dish.

Lowcountry Crab Cakes — Packed with lump crab meat and very little filler, these are pan-seared to a golden brown and served with a side of remoulade that adds just the right amount of kick.

Weekend Brunch — Soby’s is open for brunch every Saturday and Sunday. The menu is à la carte, featuring a great mix of traditional brunch dishes, Soby’s classics, and special chef features. Pair your meal with one of their Bloody Marys or mimosas to make your weekend complete.

🎭 The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: Logos Theatre brings the Pevensie children's escape into a wardrobe-hidden Narnia to the stage, where the White Witch holds the land in endless winter. Thursday- Saturday; times vary.

🌿 Ride to End ALZ: Hundreds of cyclists pedal the SC foothills to the coast over three days, choosing a 257-mile Grand Tour or 135-mile Half Tour to fund Alzheimer's research and care. Runs Friday-Sunday.

🎵 Thomas Rhett: The Soundtrack to Life Tour: The Tennessee-raised superstar and son of Rhett Akins brings 20 number-one singles and deeply personal songs about his wife and five kids to Bon Secours. 7:30 PM.

🍺 Bloody Mary Bash: PKL Park kicks off Sunday Morning Sessions with a Bloody Mary station, grab-and-go breakfast for $7, and open play. 8 AM.

About 2 hours and 15 minutes from Greenville

Madison's antebellum streets have shown up in Hidden Figures and The Vampire Diaries, and one walk through the historic district explains why. The town is home to one of Georgia's oldest and largest National Historic Districts, and locals say it survived the Civil War because General Sherman spared it on his march to the sea.
