RESTAURANT SCENE

Cork & Cleaver Raises the Steaks

Price range: $31+

Cork & Cleaver set out to bring an elevated steakhouse experience to Greenville without losing the welcoming feel of a neighborhood spot.

The kitchen sources its premium beef with a focus on Australian cattle, testing different cuts to land on the right combination of flavor and tenderness. The menu shifts seasonally to stay in step with what guests want. Hospitality carries the same weight as the food — service that starts the moment guests walk in and aims to make every visit feel like a special occasion. Diners consistently praise both the food and service.

Why Go: Steak boards, Australian beef, and one of Greenville's most talked-about new restaurants.

  • Steak boards featuring a sampling of cuts — filet, New York strip, and ribeye

  • The surf-and-turf board, built around a 48-ounce tomahawk paired with seafood

  • Japanese Fried Chicken — yum yum sauce, soy glaze, cilantro, scallions, lime

  • Snow crab cakes — lemon dill remoulade, pickled vegetable salad

COMMUNITY CORNER

Downtown Greenville's New 12-Story Project Moves Forward

The 650-apartment mixed-use development at North Main and Academy Street is moving through design development and construction drawings.

Southern Building Approved: Greenville's Design Review Board approved architectural details in March for the 12-story southern building — about 280 apartments, 6,000 square feet of commercial space and 285 parking spaces.

More to Come: The developers still need approval on materials for the project's other two buildings, part of a three-building development totaling around 650 apartments.

The local vineyards grow classic grapes to make incredible wines. You will find crisp whites like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Viognier, and Riesling, alongside bold reds like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Tannat.
