Clemson kicks off its football season this week, and Mauldin's BBQ Cook Off brings the smoke Saturday, plus we're bringing you plenty of other events to get you out this weekend.

What started in 2021 as a mobile operation inside a converted church bus is now a local staple. While The Bus Pizza still hits the road for events across the Upstate, you can grab a pie any day of the week at its permanent home inside The Warehouse at Vaughns.

Owner Adrian imports low-gluten, less-processed flour straight from Italy, giving the crust a lighter texture and flavor that sets it apart from standard American pizza. The menu features everything from classic favorites and build-your-own options to crowd-pleasers like the Mushroom Melt and Spicy Italian, loaded with uncured chorizo, plus a few sweet dessert pies.

GSP Airport is midway through a multi-million-dollar upgrade project, with two weekend runway closures ahead as crews race to keep pace with rising passenger demand.

Weekend Shutdowns Ahead: Taxilane and apron work will close a runway for 60 hours over two weekends, September 11–14 and September 18–21, all outside normal arrival hours.

Growth-Driven Overhaul: The airport expects passenger cargo, and general aviation traffic to climb roughly 5% a year for a decade, prompting a $10 million concourse glass replacement and a new 3-megawatt solar canopy over two parking garages.

Mauldin’s BBQ Cook-Off: More than 20 Southeast cookers compete for Mauldin's top BBQ title, kicking off with the Anything Butt round. Friday-Saturday.

🍷 Sippin' in Simpsonville: More than 25 downtown businesses pour 1 oz. samples of local and regional wines along a walkable tasting route, with retail vendors, art, and live music between stops. 5:30 PM.

🎵 Music in the Woods with Brooke Ashton: A laid-back afternoon on Paris Mountain, with live music, fresh air, and good company in one of the Upstate's prettiest outdoor settings. 2 PM.

🎵 Pickin' in the Park: Travelers Rest's 3rd annual bash takes over Trailblazer Park Amphitheater with live music, food trucks, and the small-town warmth. 3 PM.

Elk & Embers opened in the spring of 2025 in Waynesville, NC.
